Heat pump prices: equipment, installation and extras
Checked
Prices checked 20 October 2026 · 11 offers from 6 sellers and installers
In the offers we collected, an air-to-water heat pump with installation for a family house cost €4,988 to €13,500 and more, before subsidy.
Cheaper offers tend to leave out the hot-water cylinder or include less work. Only a site survey establishes the exact price for your home. These are individual offers with different scopes, rather than a market average or a binding price.
Calculate the subsidy for my quote
The Zelená domácnostiam II subsidy
You can get back up to €4,000: €400 for each kW of output, for no more than 10 kW and no more than half of eligible costs.
You pay the full price yourself first. The subsidy is refunded only after installation and approval of the application. SIEA decides support. On 20 October 2026, registration for the programme was not available.
What a complete price should include
When people talk about the price of a heat pump, they may mean three different amounts:
- The equipment alone. An online-shop price, without installation or materials. It will not heat your home on its own.
- A package with installation. The equipment and a standard installation that the firm describes in advance. Anything outside the package costs extra.
- The price after a site survey. An offer for your particular house. Only this shows what you will actually pay.
The outdoor unit is only one part of a usable system. Confirm the indoor module, hot-water cylinder, controls, hydraulic components, pipes, insulation, installation, commissioning and VAT. Two offers with the same total can cover very different work.
Electrical supply, a foundation, building work, old-boiler removal and changes to radiators may be additional. A quotation labelled “with installation” does not establish that every item is included.
Air-to-water with installation
These are prices that sellers and installers published on their websites. They are not invoices or a market average. Prices are before subsidy, sorted from the lowest stated amount. Starting prices may rise after a site survey. Each row retains the source's VAT status and known exclusions.

Ground-source, including source works
Ground-source heat pumps take heat from the ground through boreholes or a horizontal collector in the garden. This work makes up a substantial part of the price, so published packages start at €14,000. What boreholes cost for you depends on the ground and the depth.
Compare drilling depth, geology, collector area and reinstatement; the cheapest headline may describe less work.

Additional work and annual service
Some work is included in a package and some is not. If an item is missing from an offer, ask whether it is included. If it is already in the package, do not add it a second time. These are individual price-list examples from particular firms, rather than averages. Confirm whether they apply to your project, include VAT, and cover materials and travel.

Electrical work and inspection: we did not find a published fixed price. It depends on whether your existing breaker and distribution board are sufficient. Ask for it as a separate line in the offer.
Travel: outside the firm's town, it is often charged per kilometre.
Annual service
Some manufacturers, such as Vaillant, Mitsubishi Electric and Buderus, make the warranty or its extension conditional on regular servicing. Check the warranty conditions for your model. According to price lists, an inspection costs €110 to €190, often excluding travel and spare parts.

Service conditions may require the original installer or a specific manufacturer. Travel, consumables and repairs may be extra. Check the written warranty's maintenance obligations.
Calculate an indicative subsidy
Enter the gross quotation and registered supported output. We show how much you pay upfront and how much Zelená domácnostiam II may refund. The calculation assumes the entire entered price is eligible; SIEA may recognise a smaller amount. It does not assess eligibility, reserve funding or submit an application. Whether you receive support is decided by SIEA under the programme conditions.
Read the eligibility, registration status and payment process.
Compare the same installation scope
Ask for written offers, and check each one for:
- the exact model of the outdoor and indoor units;
- the output the equipment delivers in the coldest weather in your area, not just the figure in the model name;
- room-by-room heat loss and the required water temperatures;
- whether a hot-water cylinder is included, and its size;
- backup heater, hydraulic accessories and controls;
- whether electrical work, inspection, a foundation or a wall bracket are included;
- condensate, frost protection and building work;
- whether old-boiler removal and travel are included;
- whether the price includes VAT;
- commissioning, exclusions, and what warranty the firm gives and on what conditions (for example, compulsory annual servicing);
- whether the firm will help with the subsidy documents.
A nominal 8, 10 or 12 kW rating does not establish the right size or a complete price. An older house may need emitter or distribution upgrades. Ask several installers to quote against the same brief.
Common questions
Are the hot-water cylinder and electrical work included?
Sometimes. Some packages include the cylinder and others do not. Some offers explicitly exclude the main electrical supply. Check exactly what the offer contains, and ask for anything missing to be listed separately.
How much does an 8 kW or 12 kW heat pump cost?
In our examples, an 8–9 kW system with installation cost €4,988 to €8,490, depending on what was included. A 12 kW offer with a hot-water cylinder was €12,612. Packages for larger houses (10–16 kW) started at €10,900. The output you need is determined by a heat-loss calculation for the house, not its floor area.
Can I deduct the subsidy from the price straight away?
No. In Zelená domácnostiam II, you pay the firm the full amount yourself. The subsidy is refunded after installation, once you submit proof of payment and installation and SIEA approves the application. You therefore need the money for the whole amount upfront.
How we collected prices
We took prices from sellers' and installers' websites and give the source and the date we checked each one. Amounts, dates, VAT and sources come from the research records. The headline range uses the lowest and highest published air-to-water package examples. A source's advertised “from” price remains a starting price. Prices change, so confirm them directly with the firm before deciding. We do not sell or install heat pumps. This page contains no affiliate links, and we are not paid to list any offer.
Models, generations and work scopes differ, so these tables are not an efficiency or brand-quality ranking. Missing information is not treated as zero. We do not silently subtract a subsidy from an offer or promise current stock.
What to do next
- Ask for a written offer from at least two or three firms and compare them using the list above.
- Before signing a contract, check the current conditions and registration status on the Zelená domácnostiam II programme website.
